Extended DayThe goal of the Extended Day program is to provide a nurturing yet challenging environment in which the Early Childhood Program through fifth grade students have the opportunity to play, participate in arts and crafts, rest, read, and do homework with teachers and staff in a safe, caring and familiar setting. We offer a variety of activities in which children learn through play, build self-confidence and think creatively with the support of teachers and staff. Students are expected to treat other students and teachers with respect and work cooperatively within a positive environment.
Holiday Care
As a convenience to parents, North Cross School offers Holiday Care (through the Extended Day Program) on various days throughout the year when School is closed for students in the Early Childhood Program – fifth grade. During Holiday Care, students have the opportunity to play, participate in arts and crafts, rest, read and do homework with teachers and staff in a safe, caring and familiar setting. Care is available from 8 a.m. – 6 pm, and students must bring lunch, including a drink, as the Lemon Dining Hall is closed during Holiday Care. To sign up for Holiday Care, please fill out and return a form to your child’s teacher. Parents are permitted to sign up for Holiday Care until two days prior to the scheduled date. Holiday Care will be cancelled on any/all dates for which at least ten children are not signed up. In the case that Holiday Care is cancelled, a note will be sent home two days in advance to allow parents to make other arrangements. Once you have signed up for Holiday Care, you must notify school staff (in writing) if you decide to cancel or your account will be billed for the day. Afternoon Study HallThe Eaton Hall afternoon study hall serves students in grades six through eight who need to stay at school after the end of the school day at 3:10 PM. We always allow students to stay in the lobby of Eaton Hall or in the courtyard outside of the building between 3:10-3:30 while they are waiting on their rides to arrive or waiting for an afternoon program/practice to begin. However, we know that some parents may need a supervised study hall for their children for a longer period of time in the afternoons before they can be picked up. Likewise, some Eaton Hall students may finish athletic practice at 4:00 PM and need a place to go until their ride arrives later in the afternoon. Eaton Hall students who remain on campus after the end of the academic day need to be in a supervised place, and we want to plan in advance for this need. Any student who has not been picked up by 3:30 PM, and who is not in a supervised after-school program (for example: a sports team or club), will be asked to move to the afternoon study hall room until his/her ride arrives.
If you would be interested in enrolling your child an afternoon study hall this fall, please call or email Donna Jones with this information and the times when you would expect your child to attend. There will be a fee assessed for this service to cover the cost of the program. Students will use this time to complete assignments, read, or do other quiet work. When the weather is nice, the students may be given time to spend time outside after a certain period of quiet time. 2020-21 Fee Schedule
