North Cross School is an independent, nonsectarian, college-preparatory school located in Roanoke, Virginia, that serves children from early childhood through twelfth grade.
=
North Cross provides a rigorous academic curriculum, competitive with the best college-preparatory schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia. While we explicitly recognize the importance of intellectual development and academic achievement, we also strive to promote personal integrity, empathy, and responsibility to self and community. Through this, our graduates will act as leaders in the local and global communities, persons of intellectual and moral courage, and scholars in the service of others.

What ‘More’ Means:

PUBLIC SPEAKING IN EVERY GRADE
All of our students are required to present in front of an audience. From reading a book report aloud to presenting research in front of the entire Upper School, speaking in public creates self-confident individuals.
THE HORACE G. FRALIN GLOBAL STUDIES PROGRAM
Designed to make students more aware and interested in an interconnected world, Global Studies students have specialized course work and an experiential education that engages them in world issues with greater international outlook, insight, and perspective.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION EVERY DAY
All of our students, in every grade, have physical activity integrated into their daily school life. Whether it be learning the basic rules of soccer, or competing in a state Championship final, North Cross students realize the benefits of a healthy mind and body.
SINGAPORE MATH IN THE LOWER SCHOOL
Singapore Math is a curriculum that emphasizes not just the 'how' of math, but the 'why.' Using visuals that represent different quantities, students learn to see the different parts of a problem.
ARTS & MUSIC INTEGRATED AND REQUIRED
In order to encourage creative expression in our students, a plethora of opportunities are integrated into the curricula of each division. Whether it's through studio art classes, chorus, band, theatre, or design, our students have an eye, ear, and voice for the arts.
A TUITION THAT IS NOT ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL
Our Tailored Tuition Program offers discounted tuition to bright students who otherwise would not be able to afford a North Cross education because we believe a diverse student body is a benefit to all.
WORLD LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION EVERY DAY
In the Lower School, beginning at age 3, students have Spanish class every day, the goal being that every student speaks a second language fluently upon graduating.
CHAMPION ATHLETICS WITH NO TRY-OUTS
All children should be allowed to benefit from the character building and physical activity afforded to them by team sports. All who want to participate do, and it doesn't seem to hurt the number of Championships we win.
SUPPORT FOR LANGUAGE-BASED LEARNING DIFFERENCES
The CrossWalk Program at North Cross School was created to help all students achieve their potential. Our Orton-Gillingham certified instructors help students learn the skills they need to succeed in a typical classroom setting.
