How Giving to the Endowment Works
When you give to an endowed fund, North Cross School invests your gift as part of its overall endowment portfolio. Each year, a portion of the value of your endowed fund is paid out to support the fund's purpose (a scholarship, professional development, etc.). Any remaining earnings are used to build the endowment's value. In this way, an endowment fund can grow and provide support for its designated purpose in perpetuity.
Our dedicated community of alumni, parents, and friends builds a stronger future for North Cross through unrestricted and restricted endowment giving. These prudent investments create a permanent source of funding for ongoing priorities—such as faculty and staff professional development, scholarships, and facilities maintenance—meeting today’s needs while safeguarding tomorrow’s vision. Generous endowment donors can rest assured that every gift leaves an enduring legacy, serving its intended purpose for as long as the School continues to exist.

Our Investment Philosophy
The investment philosophy of North Cross combines the goal of total return and preservation of capital with prudent risk tolerance in order to achieve investment results consistent with the financial goals and objectives of the school. To provide guidance and direct oversight of North Cross, the Board of Trustees has appointed the Finance and Audit Committees to oversee the investment of the school’s endowment funds. The professionally-managed fund allows North Cross to sustain an annual draw and grow the endowment over time. North Cross’s current spending policy is four percent of the average of the past three trailing years.
