The Raider family came together once again to celebrate Convocation with the largest senior class in North Cross history—48! Dean of Students Stephen Belderes offered a benediction, Dr. Proctor welcomed us all and rang Mrs. Northcross Ellis' infamous bells, Senior Class President Isaac Harris reminded students to find their true selves, and Mr. Lamas shook it up a little with a sorting Raider Helmet (instead of our previous sorting hat) which he used to announce classroom assignments to the Lower School. New this year: our parent groups had a presence there to introduce themselves and remind families of ways they can help our students thrive—and, a first-day photobooth, because, memories.

So, new kids, how was your first week?
We asked a number of new students how their first week as Raiders went. Watch what they had to say.
News & Notes
The theatre is just about to undergo a substantial renovation. But, before that brings the house down, we'd like to give it a shot. Students from grades 3 through 12 are invited to participate in the last show on the existing auditorium stage: Fishburn Follies: A Musical Revue. The show will be comprised of song acts from the North Cross School "vault" and be emceed by the venerable Gates DeHart who will also help out with direction. Those interested in participating, need to complete this form. Auditions for students not currently enrolled in a choral class will be held next Thursday and Friday, so don't delay--signups must be in by Tuesday, September 10!
THANK YOU to all who brought in their plastic bags last year for our Trex® Recycling Competition. Your donations helped us place 10th and win us a lovely Trex® planter on display in Mrs. Dickenson's Bio Lab in Willis Hall. We joined the game late last year, which is probably why we didn't sweep the competition, so we're giving it a go again this year. Collections restart November 15 with bins all over campus, so start saving those bags (bubble wrap, newspaper, bread, and produce bags also count!).
The Logan Gallery has a new art show up for viewing. Painters Jo Ellen Lam, Mary Peterson Vargas, John Wiercioch have works on display. The pieces range from abstract color work to impressionist-inspired landscapes—all the colors and inspiration to ease your soul into autumn. A portion of the sales from the show benefit North Cross School's Friends of the Arts organization which supports art programming and equipment at the school.
