Ways of Giving
Through your gifts, you can have an immediate impact on North Cross School.
North Cross School, like all independent—and even public and private schools, colleges and universities—needs support beyond tuition paid from our constituencies to maintain and enhance our academic, arts, and athletic initiatives.
Through your gifts, you can have an immediate and future impact on North Cross School and ultimately impact our greater community through your philanthropic support because the products of a North Cross education—our graduates—go on to lead and serve in communities beyond our campus. Your gifts to North Cross are paid back by the great things our graduates will do.
The first way and most efficient way to support North Cross is by giving to the North Cross Annual Fund. This is an annual campaign and its fiscal year is July 1 through June 3o, coinciding with our school’s fiscal year. Credit toward giving societies is given based on the date gifts are received.
The North Cross Annual Fund is the School's annual fundraising priority and most significant source of non-tuition revenue. It directly supports the current operations of the School - compensation, supplies, utilities, maintenance, and other things necessary to deliver education to our students, run the school, and support all its programs.
Making a pledge—a promise to pay—lets us know your intent to support the school. It helps with our budgeting and projections, so we ask that you make your pledge to the North Cross Annual Fund as soon you can. You can fulfill your pledge at any time, or in installments, as described below.
North Cross School welcomes your gifts. Below are the most common ways to make a gift. The Development Office is here to assist you in making an investment in the future of North Cross, its students, and thus our community. If you have questions, please call us at 1-888-637-6641 or 540-989-6641.

Corporate matching gifts program
Corporate matching gifts provide a wonderful opportunity to double, sometimes even triple your contribution to North Cross School. Please contact your company’s personnel office for specific information about your employer’s matching gift program. It is necessary in all cases for the donor to secure the proper forms from the corporation and to submit them to School in order for us to receive the matching gift.
Securities such as stocks and bonds can be used to make charitable gifts to North Cross. You are entitled to a charitable deduction (both income tax and estate or gift tax) equal to the mean trading value of the securities on the date of the gift. One of the principal benefits of a gift of securities is that any appreciation is exempt from capital gains taxes.
Transfer stocks by phone or email
Electronic transfer is the preferred and simplest method for stock transfer. First, notify Jennifer Burtch, Development Coordinator, in the Development Office, 540-989-6641, ext. 284 or email@example.com. If this is not done prior to a transaction, the identity of the donor may be in jeopardy and the gift may not be received into our account properly. Second, have your broker call or email Jodie Wertz at the Roanoke office of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (540-983-4907 or firstname.lastname@example.org) to advise her of the symbol or security description, approximate number and value of shares you intend to give, and if you want the gift to be for any special purpose.
Please note in the memo line what the donation is for, if you have the option when you make the gift, i.e. Annual Fund, Capital Campaign, etc.
