Ways of Giving
Thank you for your interest in supporting North Cross School and its mission.

North Cross School, like all independent schools, needs the support of our constituencies to maintain and enhance the initiatives of our School. You can have an immediate as well as future impact on North Cross School and ultimately our community through your philanthropic support. The first way to support North Cross School is through our annual fund, The North Cross Fund. The North Cross Fund is the School's annual fundraising priority source of revenue which directly supports the current operations of the School. Other options for giving include capital projects, endowment gifts, and planned giving. North Cross School welcomes gifts in many different forms and via many different methods. Below are the most common ways to make a gift. The Development Office is here to assist you in making an investment in the future of North Cross School, its students and thus our community. If you have questions, please call us at 1-888-637-6641 or 540-989-6641.

By giving online
Please click the box "Give Online" to obtain our secure site for gifts to The North Cross Fund.

By check
Make your check payable to North Cross School, and send to:
Development Office
North Cross School
6254 Colonial Avenue
Roanoke, VA 24018

By credit card
We accept Visa and MasterCard. Contact the development office at 540-989-6641 to speak with a staff member who will assist you in making a credit card gift over the phone or selecting the box "Give Online" for our secure site for gifts to The North Cross Fund.

By pledging a gift
A pledge is a promise to make a specified payment within a specific time period. A North Cross Fund payment is requested by June 30 in the annual fund fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). A pledge may be made through our "Give Online" secure site.

Corporate matching gifts program
Corporate matching gifts provide a wonderful opportunity to double, sometimes even triple your contribution to North Cross School. Please contact your company’s personnel office for specific information about your employer’s matching gift program. It is necessary in all cases for the donor to secure the proper forms from the corporation and to submit them to School in order for us to receive the matching gift.

Appreciated stock
Securities such as stocks and bonds can be used to make charitable gifts to North Cross School. You are entitled to a charitable deduction (both income tax and estate or gift tax) equal to the mean trading value of the securities on the date of the gift. One of the principal benefits of a gift of securities is that any appreciation is exempt from capital gains taxes.

Transfer stocks by phone
Electronic transfer is the preferred and simplest method for stock transfer. First, notify Jennifer Burtch, Development Assistant, in the Development Office, 540-989-6641, ext. 284 or jburtch@northcross.org. If this is not done prior to a transaction, the identity of the donor may be in jeopardy and the gift may not be received into our account properly. Secondly, have your broker call Tom Dunkenberger or Stephen Waskey at the Roanoke office of Smith Barney (540-345-1555 or 1-877-449-4449) to advise her of the approximate number and value of shares you intend to give and if you want the gift to be for any special purpose.

North Cross School’s account number is #42A-00031-19 and our “DTC” transfer number is 0418.
