Graphic Design 1 (Full year course – No prerequisites)
This course serves as a fusion between technical skill and graphic mastery. Students will learn how to use the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) effectively and learn to apply the principles of graphic design (Hierarchy, Alignment, Proximity and Repetition) to a variety of print-based graphic design projects. Projects include map creation, logo design, stationery package, poster, restaurant menu, music CD package, typographic portrait, typographic cube, advertising campaign and three-panel rack brochure.
Print Design (One Term Course – Prerequisite: Graphic Design I)
This course is designed to help students achieve advanced studio techniques—including custom typographic treatments and special photographic effects—in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Emphasis is placed on technical proficiency and aesthetic judgments in long format print design projects.
Web Design and Animation (One Term Course – Prerequisite: Graphic Design I)
Students will focus on creation of animated gifs, web buttons, site mapping and creation of HTML based web design projects using GoogleSites and/or Weebly.
Creative Filmmaking (One Term Course – Prerequisite: Graphic Design I)
Students will focus on movie analysis, scene creation, montage, and editing using iMovie software.
