For the second time in three years, The Willis Hall Herald, North Cross School’s student-produced newspaper and website, was awarded Gold Medal status by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA). As members of the CSPA, schools’ student newspapers are independently reviewed and results delivered in the annual Critique.
Mr. Robert Robillard was the advisor for the staff last year and was proud of their achievement. “We have been trying for years to convert from our print journalism ethic to something more contemporary and relevant to our student body, so last year was the first time we felt able to compete in the CSPA's hybrid category, which judges a staff for its online and print journalism,” he said.
“I am so proud of last year's small group of 9th- and 11th-graders for making that successful transition. Congratulations to Editor-in-Chief Meagan Pruitt and crew for leading the staff in this digital age, and giving North Cross School a great high school newspaper,” Mr. Robillard said.
