Fall planting is underway in the lower school garden. This week and next, the fourth and fifth graders are working with teacher Betsy Cook planting fall vegetables: beets, turnips, radishes, spinach, and a variety of salad greens. They learned how to make a trough, the importance of planting in straight rows, and how to properly cover and water the seeds. The children can't wait to taste the fruits (and veggies) of their labors. Children are often more willing to try vegetables that they have helped to grow.
