On Tuesday morning, the Eaton Hall trout team traveled to Roaring Run in Botetourt County to release the trout raised in Ms. Sandy Patterson’s classroom this year. The brook trout arrive as eggs at the beginning of the year. The team is responsible for monitoring the water in the classroom tank, feeding the trout, and cleaning the tank, all to make sure they are prepared for release in the spring as fingerlings.
As part of the trip, led by Ed Dickenson, students studied macroinvertebrates, visited the iron furnace, and found samples of red ore along the riverbed.
The 2016 team included Lea Almahameed ’22, Jadon Bjurman-Birr ’21, Sofia Hanson ’21, Mashall Rasul ’21, Amisha Sahni ’21, and Margaret Tower ’21.
