You may have noticed buckets and tubing near several maple trees by the lower school recently. Brian Clark, father of Rowan Clark ’28, visited with the kindergarten students earlier this month and taught them how to tap maple trees for syrup. He set up taps on six trees with the students.
After one week, thee of the five-gallon buckets were full and the other three were nearly full. A total of 25 gallons were collected in one week. Brian will cook the syrup and will finish the last part of the cooking with students.
On Tuesday morning next week, the teachers are cooking pancakes and waffles for the students. We will eat them with the the syrup cooked by Brian!
