Dear North Cross Community:
I would like to thank each of you who participated in our community service initiatives during the Thanksgiving Holiday. Your efforts allowed North Cross to make an immediate impact on families in the Roanoke Valley, and the expressions of gratitude from the community were overwhelming.
On Tuesday, November 24th, we partnered with Central Baptist Church to provide 61 complete Thanksgiving meals to families in need, and four boxes of food to the Roanoke Rescue Mission. One thing that stood out to me this year was the number of working poor families that we were able to assist.
Our school community was invaluable to the Roanoke Rescue Mission in preparation for its annual Drumstick Dash. North Cross was represented on Monday and Tuesday nights packaging bags for the race participants and helping with other needs. On Thanksgiving morning, we had over ten volunteers helping with traffic control and start/finish line control. The Rescue Mission does great work for our community, and I am glad that we were able to contribute to its service.
As Community Outreach Coordinator, I am encouraged by the high level of awareness from our students and their families. It is always gratifying to be able to give back to the Roanoke Valley, especially during the holiday season. Because of your generosity with your time and resources, our community shines brighter this month.
We continue to build on our tradition of service to others, and we will not stop searching for opportunities to further help our neighbors. This commitment is important, not only for the families we reach, but also for our students who are being instilled with a sense of civic pride and responsibility. Again thank you for all you do and your continued support.
Community Outreach Coordinator, NCS
