Some students might, but that I have recently expanded my scuba diving into the technical diving specialty (different gas mixtures) which allows you to dive very, very deep. Not much room for error though!
What’s your teaching passion? What motivates you? What do you do to stay current?
I enjoy using my research background in Oceanography as a jumping off point. I enjoy passing on my knowledge and stay in touch with my network of research partners at various Universities.
What was your favorite book you read in school?
The Norton Anthology of English Literature. Seriously.
Who most influenced your decision to teach?
No particular person, though I admired those who held my interest.
When you're listening to music, who's playing?
A lot of Rammstein. I’m not a light rock type person.
If you didn't teach, what would you be doing instead?
Running a dive resort if I could.
What's your favorite North Cross tradition?
I love morning assemblies and especially the DeHart presentations. A great tradition.
When your students move to the next grade, what is the most important lesson you want them to have learned?
Be responsible for yourself. Don’t make excuses!
