The annual Lower School holiday performance will take place Friday, December 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carter Athletic Center. This year's program, like last year's, is a product of the Lower School's global music culture series. Students are currently working on commissioned arrangements by Marya Katz, a noted Celtic educator, and Jim Baldwin of the band Second Wynde. These musicians will help our students better understand the music and holiday traditions of Celtic heritage. Ms. Katz spoke to students from all three divisions at an assembly after school, and afterward performed with her band, Simple Gifts of the Blue Ridge. Second Wyndewill accompany the lower school students during their holiday performance.
Last year, Bradley Sowash arranged selections for the students that represented American jazz and African-American spirituals. We look forward to continuing the tradition of incorporating global music culture into the Lower School's holiday performance.
