On Tuesday, September 13, the entire school assembled with the Honor Council to take part in what may be North Cross' most influential tradition: The signing of the Honor Code. Representatives from each of the Lower School grades, Middle School and Upper Schools, as well as the Head of School and the Assistant Head of School for Academics put their oath in writing, pledging to themselves and others: "I will not lie. I will not cheat. I will not steal."
Throughout the academic year, faculty members and members of the Honor Council lead discussions with the student body about each aspect of the Honor Code. Each student is encouraged to live by the Honor Code and to report infractions of the Code. The Honor Council is led by Upper School teacher Jennifer Landry who began the session with a speech emphasizing her personal connection with the Honor Codes' phrase; Honor Council president Caroline McGimsey ’17 also spoke to her peers about the importance of character.
