Ms. Betsy Cook's fourth grade students have worked on the tulip garden throughout the year as a test garden for Journey North. Journey North is an organization that gathers data from citizen scientists (like our fourth graders) to track climate trends and seasonal change.
The students planted their red emperor tulip bulbs in the fall. The foliage emerged on March 10, and the first blooms appeared on March 28. Data collected from the fourth graders will be merged with reports from school gardens and private gardens all across the country.
