Students who attend North Cross School for 12 or more years are inducted into the “Fat Pencil Society.” On Thursday morning in Fishburn Auditorium, thirteen members of the Class of 2016 were recognized at a special ceremony with friends and family members. The ceremony is a favorite tradition for many members of the school community. Recipients talk about their experience at North Cross and receive a “fat pencil” and certificate from a lower school buddy.
There have been nearly 350 "Fat Pencils" awarded since 1986, when Ms. Holt started this tradition. Students at North Cross learn to write with a fat pencil, making the pencil a symbol of how far the students come during their time on campus.
