North Cross School continues to build upon its rich tradition of community service and volunteerism. We believe each individual benefits from finding a way to make a personal difference by serving their community. Service becomes an important aspect in the holistic development of the student when they realize and accept this responsibility. Through service to others, students will grow in their realization that they have the capacity, responsibility, and skill to make a difference. We believe that, as an institution, it is incumbent upon the School to educate our students morally as well as academically.
The North Cross School Community Service Program assumes a different form in each of the three school divisions. In all divisions, it is the expectation that the entire community of students and faculty will participate in service. In the Middle and Upper Schools, the program is identified as a service learning program. This term means that there is a learning component intentionally included in the structure of the community service program. There are two components:
